My father has been a dermatologist for as long as I have known him. At the young age of 86, he still sees patients two days a week. My childhood was filled with conversations around the dinner table that required a strong stomach and a curious mind. My Saturday mornings during high school started with the clanging of pots and the rude awakening that it was 5:30am and it was time to play secretary for my Dad. I was treated to all sorts of sights and sounds that appeared in the early morning hours at the office as I struggled to recover from my not so early bedtime the night before.
My mother died at the age of 33. Mysterious circumstances surrounded her death and the best we can piece together is that she died after taking the polio vaccine on the sugar cube. Many of my family members and yours truly suffered from blood sugar issues, fatigue, allergies, depression, and hormone imbalances.
Why do I include this in my introduction to you? These early events, combined with a strong influence of the study of ecology from early camping trips around the country[picture six kids in a station wagon driving from DC to Alaska], and a natural gift of healing hands, all combined to drive my passion to understand how it is that we get well and stay well. Thus, Total Wellness, an ecosystem of health, was born.
This quest to understand what it means to be healthy, how to stay healthy and how to return to the joy of being healthy has kept me interested, entertained, and humble for the past 30 years. I see miraculous recoveries every day and it keeps me excited about coming to work every day.
It is my privilege and a my commitment to you, to listen and help you find your way back to feeling well and staying well. Whether it is recovery from an auto accident or a chronic digestive problem, there are answers for you and a road map back to feeling good. I am excited to be part of your journey.
